Cristcot announced the launch of Sephure, the first disposable rectal suppository applicator. With the applicator, patients can administer a suppository in less than 5 seconds.
Sephure is a disposable, single-use suppository applicator engineered to hygienically administer rectal suppositories away from the nerves that stimulate bowel evacuation. The device contains vents that allow air to exit the body during suppository administration and withdrawal. Leakage after the suppository melts is circumvented by removing the trapped air which can be introduced during rectal administration.

Rectal suppositories are commonly used in the management of gastrointestinal disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease, and for the administration of laxatives, cathartics, analgesics, and antiemetics.
Sephure has obtained both CE marking and FDA clearance, allowing it to be marketed and distributed in the U.S. It is available in two sizes (A2 and B3) and in 10-, 30-, and 90-count packages.
