FibroScan Approved for Non-invasive Liver Diagnosis

Echosens announced that its FibroScan device received clearance from the FDA.

FibroScan is used in the clinical management of patients with liver disease such as chronic viral hepatitis C and B and fatty liver diseases.  Transient elastography enables FibroScan to assess liver shear wave speed (m/s) and equivalent stiffness (kPa) at 50Hz in a rapid and non-invasive way. The FibroScan device also explores a large volume that is about 100 times larger than the biopsy.

FibroScan is currently available in 70 countries.
