Healthcare providers reported wasted product during the propofol shortage from 2009–2013. The new 10mL infusion vials were designed with consideration for common dosing practices and to reduce waste. The company was approved for the 10mL vial size in June 2014.

Diprivan is now available in 10mL, 20mL, 50mL, and 100mL vials.
