CareTaker Medical announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted clearance for the Wireless Continuous Non-Invasive “Beat-by-Beat” Blood Pressure (“cNIBP”) and Heart Rate Monitor based on the patented Finger Cuff technology.

The wearable monitor allows continued wire- and electrode-free vital signs monitoring throughout the full mobile continuum of care whether it is in the clinic and hospital, during patient transport, or remotely, post-discharge. 

The Company’s patented Pulse Decomposition Analysis technology non-invasively assesses continuous beat-by-beat blood pressure and heart rate as accurately as a 3-lead ECG through a low-pressure finger cuff. The finger cuff can be worn continuously even during sleep.  The results are then displayed on the CareTaker secure web portal or other wireless devices. The cellular and Bluetooth communication options can be set up and integrated with other devices, remote patient monitoring platforms, and hospital electronic medical record systems. 

Most continuous “beat-by-beat” blood pressure measurements typically require an arterial catheter or complex device, limiting its use to primarily critical care settings. The cNIBP technology provides intensive care unit (ICU) quality continuous measurements without catheters or wires and allows clinicians to detect hemodynamic deterioration patterns early.
