The FDA has expanded the indication for Concerta (methylphenidate HCl extended-release tablets, from McNeil Pediatrics) to include the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults 18-65 years of age. In clinical trials, Concerta was shown to significantly improve ADHD symptoms compared to placebo.
Concerta is already approved for the treatment of ADHD in children ≥6 years of age.
