BiferaRx iron supplement available

Alaven has made available BiferaRx, a prescription iron supplement that contains heme iron and non-heme iron. Clinical studies have shown that the heme iron polypeptide component of BiferaRx, a highly bioavailable iron derived from protein sources, provides up to 40% greater absorption of iron without contributing to the gastrointestinal side effects (eg, abdominal discomfort, nausea, and constipation) associated with traditional ferrous fumarate supplements. BiferaRx also contains vitamin B₁₂ and folic acid.
