BD Rx announced that the FDA has approved Morphine Sulfate Injection, the fourth drug to be offered in the BD Simplist line of ready-to-administer prefilled injectables. Morphine Sulfate is an opioid agonist indicated for the management of pain not responsive to non-narcotic analgesics.

For a traditional vial and syringe injection sequence, clinicians perform up to 20 steps, which may increase the potential risk for error. BD Simplist prefilled injectables reduce the sequence to approximately 12 steps.
BD Rx has already launched Ondansetron Injection, Metoclopramide Injection and Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride Injection within the BD Simplist prefilled injectables line of products. The company plans to launch 20–30 prefilled injectables in the next few years.
Morphine Sulfate Injection will be available as a 2mg/mL, 4mg/mL, 5mg/mL, 8mg/mL and 10mg/mL strength in a 1mL prefilled single-use syringe in a 24-count carton as early as 2014.
