Autism spectrum (ASD) is defined as a range of neurodevelopmental disorders that include social impairments, communication problems, and restricted, repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior. Autistic disorder, or autism, is considered the most severe form of ASD [NINDS].
It is estimated that 1 in 88 children in the U.S. has been diagnosed with ASD. But just how prevalent is autism when we compare it to other conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and ADHD?
