Mechanism of Action
Chloroprocaine, like other local anesthetics, blocks the generation and the conduction of nerve impulses, presumably by increasing the threshold for electrical excitation in the nerve, by slowing the propagation of the nerve impulse, and by reducing the rate of rise of the action potential.
Ocular surface anesthesia.
Iheezo Dosage and Administration
Apply 3 drops to ocular surface in the area of planned procedure; reapply as needed.
Iheezo Boxed Warnings
Not for injection or intraocular use. For administration by healthcare provider. Corneal injury due to insensitivity; avoid touching the eye for ≥10–20mins after administration. Prolonged use may cause corneal opacification and ulceration. Risk of contamination. Pregnancy. Nursing mothers.
Renal. Half-life: ~25 secs.
