Generic Name and Formulations:

Clorazepate dipotassium 3.75mg, 7.5mg, 15mg; scored tabs.

Select therapeutic use:

Indications for TRANXENE:

Anxiety.

Adult:

30mg daily in divided doses; range: 15–60mg daily in divided doses. Debilitated: initially 7.5–15mg daily in divided doses.

Children:

<9yrs: not recommended.

Contraindications:

Acute narrow-angle glaucoma.

Warnings/Precautions:

Drug or alcohol abuse. Suicidal tendencies. Renal or hepatic disease. Change dose gradually. Therapy for >4 months. Monitor blood counts and hepatic function. Psychosis, depression, pregnancy, nursing mothers: not recommended.

Interactions:

Potentiation of CNS depression with alcohol and other CNS depressants.

Pharmacological Class:

Benzodiazepine.

Adverse Reactions:

CNS depression, dizziness, ataxia, memory impairment, GI disorders, dry mouth, blurred vision, headache, hallucinations, tremor, rash, hypotension, abnormal hepatic and renal tests, decreased hematocrit.
