Withdrawn Drug Found in Weight Loss Products

The FDA is advising consumers not to purchase or use Slim Trim U and Natural Body Solution, two products marketed and sold for weight loss.

A laboratory analysis found that both weight loss products were found to contain sibutramine, a controlled substance that was withdrawn from the market in October 2010. Sibutramine poses a health risk to consumers because it is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse. It may also pose a significant risk in patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke. These products may also cause life-threatening drug interactions with other medications the consumer is taking.
