Ranbaxy Issues Recall of 41 Batches of Atorvastatin
The voluntary recall, which includes 10mg, 20mg, and 40mg dosage strength tablets, was due to the concern that select batches may contain small glass particles, <1mm in size. The size of the particles is unlikely to cause a significant safety concern, however, the company is taking precautionary measures to prevent possible adverse reactions.
The recall affects lots packaged in 90- and 500-count bottles and only affects certain select lot numbers. The recall does not affect 80mg doses of Atorvastatin. The full list of affected lots and product descriptions can be found here: http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm329866.htm.
