Nova Dietary Supplements Recalled

Nova Products announced a voluntary recall of African Black Ant, Black Ant, XZen Gold, ZXen Platinum, XZen 1200, XZone Gold, and XZone 1200, products marketed as dietary supplements for sexual enhancement. This recall was announced after an FDA analysis discovered the products to contain undeclared amounts of sildenafil and tadalafil.

Sildenafil (ViagraPfizer) and tadalafil (CialisEli Lilly) are both prescription drugs approved to treat erectile dysfunction. These hidden ingredients may interact with nitrates found in prescription drugs (eg, nitroglycerin), and may lower a patient's blood pressure to dangerous levels. Further, these products may cause side effects such as headaches and flushing.

The affected lot numbers are as follows: African Black Ant (Lot# 2006-000926), Black Ant (Lot# 2006-3627878), XZen Gold (Lot# 130310GL), ZXen Platinum (Lot# 130520PL), XZen 1200 (Lot# 13051012), XZone Gold (Lot# 131110GL), and XZone 1200 (Lot# 13071012). These supplements are packaged in blister packs, envelopes, bottle, and/or boxes distributed to consumers nationwide at retail stores. Nova Products has discontinued distribution and sales of these products.
