Nipro GlucoPro insulin syringes recalled

The FDA and Nipro Medical Corporation have notified healthcare professionals of a voluntary nationwide recall of all GlucoPro insulin syringes because they may have needles that detach from the syringe. This recall includes all product codes and lot numbers with expiration dates before 2011-11 (November 1, 2011). A full list can be found at: www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm198429.htm.

Needles that become detached from the syringe during use can become stuck in the insulin vial, push back into the syringe, or remain in the skin after injection. Patients who have GlucoPro insulin syringes should stop using them immediately.
