Multiple Undeclared Drugs Found in Sex Enhancement Pills
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers to not buy or use the following tainted sexual enhancement supplements:
- Diablos Eca Fire Caps
- Stiff Nights
- La Pepa Negra
- Herb Viagra
An FDA analysis has found Stiff Nights, La Pepa Negra, and Herb Viagra to contain sildenafil, the active ingredient in the prescription drug Viagra (Pfizer). Viagra is a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It may interact with nitrates found in nitroglycerin and lower blood pressure levels.
Diablos Eca Fire Caps were found to contain sildenafil, phenolphthalein, sibutramine, and deisobutylbenzylsibutramine. Phenolphthalein is a chemical that is not found in any approved drug in the United States. It may present a risk of cancer and may interact with other medications a consumer is taking. Sibutramine is a controlled substance that was pulled from the market in October 2010 for safety concerns. Sibutramine is known to increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients. It may pose a significant risk in patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke.
