Counterfeit Supplement Found to Contain Sildenafil

The FDA is warning the public about a potentially harmful counterfeit male sexual enhancement supplement called ExtenZe Maximum Strength. The counterfeit closely resembles the original product but can be identified by Lot# “0512056” and the expiration “EXP. May 16” stamped on the outer carton and embossed on the blister card.

Laboratory analysis confirmed that the counterfeit ExtenZe product contains sildenafil, an active ingredient found in Pfizer's Viagra. Sildenafil is a PDE-5 inhibitor indicated for erectile dysfunction. It may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs (eg, nitroglycerin), and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Counterfeit ExtenZe can be purchased online and through other sources. The FDA is advising consumers to check the lot number on the package to verify its authenticity.
