For the radical cure (prevention of relapse) of vivax malaria.
1 tablet daily for 14 days.
Acutely ill patients suffering from systemic disease manifested by tendency to granulocytopenia (eg, rheumatoid arthritis, SLE). Concomitant bone marrow suppressive drugs, quinacrine.
Discontinue if signs of hemolytic anemia occur. G6PD deficiency. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) methemoglobin reductase deficiency. History of favism. Do routine CBCs. Pregnancy (avoid).
GI (nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, abdominal cramps), hematologic (leukopenia, hemolytic anemia in G6PD deficient; methemoglobinemia in NADH methemoglobin reductase deficient).
