Topical Option Available for Erectile Dysfunction
TriMix Laboratories announced the launch of TriMix-gel (prostaglandin E, papaverine, phentolamine) for the treatment of erectile dysfunction for patients who cannot tolerate self-injection with a needle or who failed on PDE5 inhibitors such as Viagra (sildenafil; Pfizer), Levitra (vardenafil; Bayer and GSK), or Cialis (tadalafil; Lilly).
Each dose contains TriMix in powder form which is energized into a gel at time of application. Trimix in liquid form is a smooth muscle relaxant accompanied by an increase in intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels. This leads to expansion of the lacunar spaces and entrapment of blood by compressing the venules against the tunica albuginia.
TriMix-gel is available in a 2,000mcg dose. TriMix-gel uses the ED-gel Easy Applicator System to store, mix, and deliver the medicine at time of use. TriMix-gel is compounded by a licensed pharmacy and shipped directly to the patient.
