Otsuka and Interpharma Praha announced the launch of Oraltag (iohexol) for Oral Solution indicated for use in computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen and pelvis to opacify bowel loops and delineate between normal loops and adjacent organs or areas of suspected pathology.

Oraltag for Oral Solution was initially approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in March 2015. Iohexol enhances imaging due to its high iodine content that attenuates the X-ray beams during CT exams. The oral administration of iohexol enables a more enhanced visualization due to the iodine present in bowel loops.

Oraltag for Oral Solution is supplied as a dried powder in a graduated bottle that can be prepared in various beverages. The liquid formulation of iohexol is typically poured into a plastic cup then diluted but this can result in potentially complicated dose adjustments and administration errors. Oraltag for Oral Solution allows for preparation in a single-use bottle that is pre-molded with 5 fill lines for accurate dilution for the desired concentration.

Oraltag is supplied as a single-use 20oz bottle in 12-count packs.
