One Drop Subscription Glucose Monitoring Service Obtains FDA Clearance
One Drop | Chrome, a consumer subscription service glucose monitoring system, has received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance.
One Drop | Chrome wirelessly transmits blood glucose data to a cloud via the One Drop | Mobile app (for iOS and Android). The device comes as part of a first-of-its-kind monthly subscription service named ‘One Drop | Premium'.
For a fee of $39.95 subscribers to the service receive the One Drop | Chrome device with unlimited testing supplies (blood glucose test strips delivered on-demand); a dedicated Certified Diabetes Educator expert available 24/7 for personalized care via an in-app chat (One Drop | Experts); and access to the cloud-based analytics program, ‘One Drop | Mobile'.
"One Drop is designed by people with diabetes for people with diabetes, and One Drop | Chrome is a perfect embodiment of our vision," said CEO and Founder, Jeff Dachis
A preliminary analysis of data collected from diabetes patients using One Drop | Mobile and One Drop | Experts showed that users consistently tracked food and glucose over time with an increase in average number of in-range blood glucose readings of 40%. A reduction in both average % of high blood glucose readings (18.5% to 3.7%) and average blood glucose value (185mg/dL [A1c 8.1%] to 158mg/dL [A1c 7.1%]) was also noted
The One Drop app is available for free in the App Store and Google Play, while the company is accepting orders for the ‘Chrome' monitoring device and the ‘Premium' service immediately.
