LifeScan announced the launch of OneTouch Verio System, a new blood glucose monitoring system that helps patients with diabetes understand their test results better.

The OneTouch Verio System displays via a color-coded range indicator whether the test result is within (green), below (blue), or above (red) the set limits without having to scroll or push buttons. If a low result displays, the user is prompted to treat the low glucose level and retest in 15 minutes.

The System's Progress Notes tracks the patient's progress in managing their diabetes and provides positive reinforcement. An "achievement" message indicates that the current result is in range following three consecutive above range results. A "consistency" message indicates that that 70% of the results in the past week have been within range. Other features include a 500-test memory capability and automatic 7-, 14-, 30-, and 90-day averages.

The OneTouch Verio System is compatible with the OneTouch Verio Test Strips and requires 0.4ul of blood.
