New Biosensor Monitors Vital Signs, Detects Falls
Vital Connect announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted clearance for its HealthPatch MD biosensor for 24-hour patient monitoring in their homes. This is also the first medical device that incorporates a fall detection feature.
The HealthPatch MD biosensor may be used to monitor patients with chronic conditions, for short-term monitoring after patient discharge, or as part of follow-up care after a non-critical emergency room visit. With the HealthPatch MD biosensor, healthcare professionals can stay connected to their patients in between their scheduled visits. Caregivers can also receive notifications on their smartphones or devices if changes in patient conditions occur outside the selected ranges.
Its proprietary algorithm and technology allow the device to provide other clinical measurements such as single lead electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, posture including fall detection and severity, and steps.
