For the first time in over thirty years, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will release data on Medicare payments to over 880,000 doctors and health professions for medical services and procedures. Information on doctors from all 50 states who participate in Medicare's Part B fee-for-service program that covers physician fees and out-patient services will be released publicly on April 9th and will include data on over 6,000 different types of services and procedures that cost Medicare $77 billion. The American Medical Association is requesting that physicians be allowed to review and correct any errors prior to the public release.
