Measles Hits IL Daycare: Two Confirmed, Three Suspected Cases

Public health officials in Illinois are investigating a cluster of measles in five children under the age of one, all of whom attended the same daycare facility in Palatine, IL.

The Illinois Department of Public Health and the Cook County Department of Public Health state that two of the children have received a confirmed measles diagnosis and laboratory test results for the remaining three cases are pending. The source of infection for the children is unknown; officials emphasize that it is not clear if these cases are connected to a previously confirmed case in suburban Cook County or the Disney Parks-linked outbreak.
