Blood glucose levels were measured prior to bedtime and before breakfast. The spouses with the lowest blood glucose levels poked the dolls with pins – representing their feelings of anger towards their partner – over twice as much as those with higher glucose levels. In a second component of the study, utilizing a competitive computer game where the winner was allowed to blast a range of sounds at their losing spouse, similar findings were reported. Those with lower blood glucose levels were more likely to blast the sounds at their losing spouse for longer periods of time and at higher volume levels.
