Fresenius Kabi announced the immediate availability of Dilaudid (hydromorphone HCI) Injection in 4 presentations of Simplist ready-to-administer prefilled syringes.

The prefilled syringes come in 0.5mg per 0.5mL, 1mg per 1mL, 2mg per 1mL, and 4mg per 1mL dose strengths. Morphine and hydromorphone are on The Institute for Safe Medication Practices' ‘List of Confused Drug Names', with this in mind, the Simplist syringes are specifically designed to offer clear and consistent labeling.

“Fresenius Kabi Simplist Dilaudid prefilled syringes can help prevent name confusion between hydromorphone and morphine and to assist health care professionals in delivering the right medication to their patients,” said John Ducker, president and CEO of Fresenius Kabi USA. Both the packaging and the syringes contain individual bar codes. Additionally, the ‘hydro' part of the word is spelled out in capitals.
