The Dexcom G4 Platinum monitors glucose levels continuously for 7 days using wireless technology, which allows users to view their glucose levels as needed. The system allows patients with diabetes to program personalized information, such as glucose targets and alerts. In addition, it has an alarm feature to alert the user of dangerously high or low glucose levels.

For children in the 2–6 years age range, Dexcom G4 Platinum (Pediatric) is the only device that offers an alternate sensor wear site on the upper buttocks for extra flexibility.
