3M announced the launch of Cavilon Advanced Skin Protectant for the prevention of moderate to severe incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD). IAD occurs when skin breaks down from incontinence and there is damage associated urine and/or fecal exposure.

The Cavilon Advanced Skin Protectant features a durable barrier that is effective for patients at risk of developing IAD and in conditions where skin is often exposed to moisture and caustic irritants (e.g., diarrhea, digestive fluids, wound drainage, urine). The skin protectant is breathable and comfortable and may help reduce the risks that contribute to pressure ulcers/injuries. The transparent barrier is effective for up to 7 days and naturally wears away; the transparency also allows easier monitoring of the underlying skin.
