Sanofi announced that the FDA has approved Auvi-Q (epinephrine injection) for the emergency treatment of life-threatening allergic reactions in people who are at risk for or have a history of anaphylaxis. Auvi-Q is a compact epinephrine auto-injector with audio and visual cues that guide patients and caregivers through the injection process.

Auvi-Q talks the user through each step of the injection process and is able to repeat them if more time is needed. It provides users with audible and visual cues, including a five-second injection countdown and an alert light to signal when the injection is complete. Auvi-Q also features an automatic retractable needle mechanism to help prevent accidental needle sticks.

Auvi-Q is available in 0.15mg and 0.3mg injection packs, each containing two devices—one epinephrine dose and one non-active training device.
