Galderma announced that MetroGel 1% (metronidazole) will now be supplied in a pump bottle. The new pump bottle packaging contains 55g of MetroGel. Each gram of MetroGel delivers 10mg of metronidazole in the same aqueous gel vehicle as in the tube packaging. The water-based gel vehicle contains niacinamide that decreases transepidermal water loss and aids the solubilizing process of metronidazole, propylene glycol that enhances percutaneous delivery of metronidazole, and betadex that increases skin permeability.

MetroGel 1% is an antibacterial agent indicated for the topical treatment of inflammatory lesions of rosacea.
