A new portable cup may look like an ordinary beverage container, but it can do much more than hold liquids. Vessyl is a new portable cup with sensors that can detect and report the nutritional information in your beverage, including the caffeine, fat, and calories. This information can then be sent to the Vessyl app on your smartphone for tracking. It is currently available for $99 via pre-orders and is expected to be released in early 2015.
Vessyl, whose pre-sale began on Thursday, looks like most portable cups: plastic, handy and durable. Created by startup Mark One over seven years, Vessyl is sensor-equipped and immediately reports your drink's nutrition facts, according to the product's promotional video. Once a liquid is poured into the Vessyl, a small digital display will tell you the caffeine, fat and calorie content, among other information.
