A study conducted by NYU's Center for Genomics and Systems Biology reports that a dollar bill can carry up to 3,000 different types of bacteria.Some of the bacteria found were those typically found on the skin; however, researchers were surprised to find other types of bacteria such as those usually found in the mouth and vagina. Researchers also concluded that during winter months, dollar bills contained more bacteria that causes pneumonia than during summer months. Some of the bills even contained MRSA, a bacteria resistant to many antibiotics. While the study points to the fact that money may act as a form of transmission of disease, researchers don't believe people should be overly concerned.
