Erectile dysfunction patients may need more education on their phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5i) drugs before they can be classified as non-responders, says a new study published in the journal Urology. Of the 250 patients included in the study, 172 (69%) were found to be taking the medication incorrectly; the most common error was giving up after trying only one PDE5i (41%). After patients were re-educated on the proper use of the drug, 76% went from having no response to having a positive response, proving that these so-called non-responders could successfully be treated with PDE5i drugs once they were given knowledge on how to properly take them.
