Coffee That Helps You Fall Asleep?
Drinking warm milk before bed has been an age-old recommendation to trigger drowsiness and induce sleep, but a new coffee aims to take its place as a pre-bed beverage. Counting Sheep Coffee is a new decaffeinated coffee spiked with valerian, a plant with reported sedative properties. Decaf coffee still contains small amounts of caffeine, so these sleep-inducing effects may not work on those highly sensitive to caffeine.
As for valerian, some studies have suggested that it may be useful for insomnia and other sleep disorders but small sample sizes and other study design issues lead to the evidence being overall inconclusive. For those who do not like the taste of coffee, valerian is also available as a nutritional supplement in various forms such as capsule and extract.
