Anuria. Sulfonamide allergy.
Renal or hepatic impairment. Arrhythmia. Diabetes. Gout. SLE. Postsympathectomy. Excessive fluid loss. Monitor electrolytes, uric acid, glucose, and renal function. K+ supplements or K+-sparing diuretics may be needed. Discontinue if electrolyte disorders develop rapidly. Elderly. Pregnancy (Cat.B). Nursing mothers: not recommended.
Digitalis, lithium toxicity. Adjust antidiabetic medications. NSAIDs may cause renal failure. ACTH, corticosteroids increase hypokalemia risk. May potentiate other antihypertensives. May block epinephrine. May interfere with parathyroid tests.
Electrolyte disorders (esp. hypokalemia, hyponatremia), hyperglycemia, hyperuricemia, gout, arrhythmias, headache, nervousness, blurred vision, muscle cramps, dizziness, fatigue, orthostatic hypotension, cough, GI disturbances.
