Emoquette (desogestrel 0.15mg/ethinyl estradiol 30mcg tablets; Qualitest and Endo), a generic of Ortho-Cept (Ortho-McNeil) has been approved.

Sandoz has launched Syeda (drospirenone 3mg/ethinyl estradiol 30mcg tablets), a ­generic equivalent of Yasmin (Bayer).

Oral contraceptives are indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use oral contraceptives as a method of contraception.
