First Generic Version of Generess Fe Launched

Mylan announced the launch of Norethindrone and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets 0.8mg/0.025mg and Ferrous Fumarate Tablets 75mg, the generic version of Warner Chilcott's Generess Fe.

Generess Fe, which combines a progestin and estrogen with ferrous fumarate, is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use oral contraceptives as a method of contraception. Combination oral contraceptives reduce the risk of becoming pregnant primarily by suppressing ovulation. Other mechanisms may include cervical mucus changes that inhibit sperm penetration and endometrial changes that reduce the likelihood of implantation.
