FDA Approves Generic Lexapro

Lupin announced that the FDA has approved Escitalopram Tablets, the generic version of Forest Laboratories' Lexapro.

Lexapro is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRIs) indicated for acute and maintenance treatment of major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents aged 12-17 years, and for the acute treatment of general anxiety disorder in adults. It works by potentiating serotonergic activity by inhibiting neuronal reuptake of serotonin (5-HT). Increased serotonergic activity in the CNS reduces noradrenergic activity producing anxiolytic effects.

Escitalopram Tablets are available from Lupin in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg dosage strengths.
