Clinicians should be informed and stay current about new molecular entities and new indications of drugs for use in everyday practice. This CME/CEU activity is designed to give clinicians a better understanding of the pharmacology, indications, contraindications, benefits/risk and clinical trials data of a broad spectrum of new agents and those that have been granted a new indication. This activity will allow these healthcare professionals to make the most up-to-date—and most appropriate—therapeutic decisions for their patients.
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be better able to:
- List drug names, mechanisms of action, and pharmacologic properties
- Identify contraindications and precautions that may preclude or condition the drug's use
- Outline potential adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and necessary monitoring parameters
- Discuss route of administration, dosing schedule, and dosing formulations
- Compare therapy with other members of the same therapeutic class
- For Pharmacists Only: Provide accurate and appropriate counsel as part of the treatment team
