Dey Pharma announced that it will be supplying only
EpiPen 2-Pak and
EpiPen Jr 2-Pak (epinephrine auto-injector) and transitioning away from the
EpiPen and
EpiPen Jr single packages. This action was undertaken to encourage healthcare professionals and patients to follow the recommendation from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases that patients at risk for or who have experienced anaphylaxis have immediate access to two doses of epinephrine because repeated dosing may be required after 5–15 minutes if a patient responds poorly to the initial dose or has ongoing or progressive symptoms despite initial dosing.
EpiPen and
EpiPen Jr are indicated for the emergency treatment of anaphylaxis.
