Doses listed are manufacturers' recommended maximum doses. Individualize and use lowest effective dose. Avoid late evening doses. Re-evaluate periodically; improvement may be sustained when the drug is either temporarily or permanently discontinued. See product monographs or contact the company for more information. If paradoxical aggravation of symptoms or other adverse effects occur, the dose should be reduced or discontinued. CDC issues statement and recommendations regarding prescription drug misuse

The CDC announced the 2009 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) found that 1 in 5 high school students have ever taken a prescription drug such as OxyContin (oxycodone, from Purdue), Percocet (oxycodone/acetaminophen, from Endo), Vicodin (hydrocodone/acetaminophen, from Abbott), Adderall (mixed salts of a single-entity amphetamine product, from Shire), Ritalin (methylphenidate, from Novartis), or Xanax (alprazolam, from Pfizer), without a prescription.
